Apple App Store Names the SoundTracking app…
When you’re working in a growing startup with a small team, sometimes you wake up and your email inbox looks fairly daunting backlog of requests, issues and weird vendor pitches. And sometimes you get an email from Apple that tells you:
“Congratulations…The App Store has just named SoundTracking the best iPhone Music App of 2011 in the US”
So from all of us here at Schematic Labs, the team that brings you the SoundTracking app and community…
Thank you to the Apple App Store for selecting us as one of the best iPhone Music Apps of 2011 globally and the best free iPhone Music App of 2011. We are truly honored.
And a big thank you to the SoundTracking community who have been sharing their favorite songs, music moments, and quirky tastes from all around the world.
We think, design and engineer for you.
Okay back to work now,
The Schematic Labs/SoundTracking Team
Got an Android phone? Welcome to SoundTracking for Android!
We’ve been working hard here at Schematic Labs to make our SoundTracking app and service the best social app for music fans on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. However, since the time we first launched in March of this year, we’ve been receiving an increasing amount of email, tweets, facebook posts and passing comments in cafes that Android users love music too. We heard you loud and clear. :-)
We’re happy to present to you our all-new SoundTracking for Android! We’ve got a few new features for you, in addition to what you might have seen in the iPhone app:
- One-tap full song playback using RDIO or Spotify
- Instant “in-the-background” song recognition of what’s playing on your Android phone, with an easy option to soundtrack that song.
- Automatic music artist @mentions when posting songs to your Twitter feed. (The music artist will see your SoundTracking tweet!)
- And all the free MusicID functionality and complete FB, Twitter and Foursquare integration, that our user community has come to know and love.
Please install it on your Android phone and let us know what you think. We’ll have frequent updates to fix issues, enhance performance, and add new cool features.
SoundTracking is “App Of The Week” in the App Store!!!
“Our latest pick takes social networking to the next level, combining music, photography, and location-sharing in an extraordinary way…”
- Apple App Store
We’re really excited to share some fun news with you today. Today, Apple has selected our SoundTracking app as the “App of the Week” in App Store!
At Schematic Labs, we believe that great design and engineering for mobile apps should simplify the complexity of sensors, software and hardware in an auto-magical way, and allow something new to exist that makes people genuinely happy. That is what we are attempting to do with our first app, SoundTracking.
The inspiration for the app came from a desire to share those real-world experiences in life that are so vividly defined by the music playing nearby at that exact moment. Whether you’re walking on the street with your headphones on, enjoying some live music at an outdoor concert, or relaxing with friends at a bar, we wanted to build something which allowed you to share those moments using your iPhone. Since launching a little under 4 weeks ago, we’ve really enjoyed seeing all the great and colorful expression happening through our app and in our growing community.
On that note, we’d like to thank our early users who have downloaded SoundTracking to their iPhone and have shared their music moments with us and each other. We are learning from how you are using the service, and we are working hard to further develop our vision for how we can all share the soundtrack to our lives.
Thank you for helping to make it the “App Of The Week” in the App Store!

On behalf of the Schematic Labs team…
I am proud to announce our little v1 app called “SoundTracking”, now available in the Apple iOS App Store!
We wanted an app that would let us share the soundtrack to our lives, and quickly express those music moments that would happen in our daily real-world lives. So that’s what we built for ourselves and all of you. Think of it as a music postcard you can send from your phone from wherever you might be…
We hope you like it! More to come soon.
